A sustainable progression system

Progress without restarting.

55-0 is a four-week cycle for people tired of starting over. Two small advances, one planned recovery week, then a return that adds nothing new, to see what holds.

  1. Advance I: Advance Up to +5%
  2. Advance II: Advance Only if it held
  3. Recovery: Recover One week at 50%
  4. Validation: Validate Return, +0% new

The problem

Most people do not fail because they never start. They fail because they start too hard.

A plan built for the best week meets a bad week: poor sleep, a sick child, a crisis at work. A missed day feels like a broken streak, and the next step is a new start "when I am ready". We call this the restart cycle.

The restart cycle

  1. A surge of motivation
  2. Too much load from day one
  3. Progress powered by willpower
  4. Fatigue, disruption or pain
  5. A missed day, guilt, stopping
  6. A new start, from zero

The return cycle

  1. Start from an honest, almost unnoticeable level
  2. Progress by one small step
  3. Progress again only if the first step held
  4. Reduce the load on purpose
  5. Return to the level you reached, adding nothing
  6. Continue from reality, never from zero

The method in one screen

Four weeks. Four symbols.

The symbols describe how your planned load may change, not what you are required to achieve.

  1. Advance I

    Test a small increase.

Start from an honest baseline. Increase up to 5%, hold, or reduce.

    5% is a ceiling, never a quota.

  2. Advance II

    Advance only from what held.

A second increase only if the first week felt sustainable. Holding is still correct.

The second 5 is permission, not an instruction.

  3. Recovery

    Reduce on purpose.

One lighter week at 50% of your confirmed level. It is part of the plan.

Never two Recovery weeks in a row.

  4. Validation

    Return. Add nothing new.

Go back to the level you confirmed before Recovery. 0 means +0% new load, not zero activity.

Recovery is always followed by Validation.

Example

110 confirmed → 55 Recovery → 110 Validation · +0

The cycle does not ask how high you can climb for a moment. It asks whether you can return.

Who it is for

For anyone who has started over more than once.

One Quest at a time, measured in one unit you choose: minutes of movement, strength sessions, kilometres, hours on a work project, learning, a creative practice.
